Fashion Tech
As digital reshapes both consumer behavior and back-end supply chains, fashion companies are increasingly locked in a race for innovation. This means that having the right technology is as important as hiring the right designers, with the need for tech-driven advancement impacting results across the entire value chain. While technology is one of the most attractive fields for top talent, fashion and retail are simply not top of mind for software developers, engineers and data analysts. Technology talent doesn’t necessarily see the sector as an appealing option. Are engineering and fashion still living on two remote planets and if so, why? What about successful fashion tech companies needing a DNA that is as much rooted in fashion as technology?
What will be the most coveted skill of the future?
Since technology is only going to advance, another thought is: What will be the most coveted skill of the future? In my opinion, it is creativity. Ultimately a computer lacks imagination or creativity to dream up a vision for the future. It lacks the emotional competent that a human being has. How open would the Tech industry be for hiring creatives from the Fashion industry? How would it stimulate and inspire fashion designers, to not design for the outcome (being clothes or product) but to use their creative and conceptual thinking ánd their ability to visualize ideas for other purposes? What about having a CEO from the fashion industry leading a Tech company or vice versa? Don't you get excited about that!?

As a fashion recruiter, I am on a mission to provide thoughts and actions that allow brands and talent in fashion, retail and technology to connect on unique opportunities, culture and future goals. I get involved in projects that facilitate the intersection and co-creation of fashion and tech on a strategy, culture and talent level. I design conversations between women in tech and women in fashion and involving men, dedicated to making the industry more inclusive and diverse. The energy and inspiration will continue to be things we look back on to help push us forward.
Fashion-Tech Developments Master Classes
In 2018 I joined the professor team of the Fashion Master of The Rome Business School. This Master in Fashion Management is the ideal academic course for professionals seeking a world-class degree program in this discipline, leading to a successful global career in the the global fashion market. With the Rome Business School’s international perspective, the program offers a unique learning experience and a global professional exposure, enabling participants to study in one of the best cities of the world or online. As a so called 'Expert Professor' I fly into Rome 4-6 times a year to teach in different area's of expertise, of which one is 'Fashion Tech Developments'. Currently I am developing under the umbrella of my own company ISRID, a Fashion Tech Trends online program for students and professionals, working in Fashion and who want to stay up to date on tech developments in their industry.
